Our focus

In 2011, based on a concept developed by CISP, which has been successfully running in Malawi since 2002 and in Kenya since 2009, CISP accepted the challenge to pilot the BISC project also in Galgaduud and Mudug. In four urban centers a team composed of BISC coordinators, mentors, trainers and business experts caters for the needs of young people who want to start new businesses or boost their existing enterprises.

Our facts and figures:

The trainings offered are structured as short courses that can be attended by people who are already working, without compromising their schedules. In 2011 the project intends to reach:

  • 1,300 young entrepreuners, including:
  • 800 practicing entrepreuners (supported by advisory and information services);
  • 500 new entrepreneurs (supported by training on business plan development, assistance in grant application and grant awarding).
  • 20 youth groups will be formed and trained to function as informal saving and credit associations.

Our activities:

  • Training on: business management, business plan development, provision of small grants;
  • Mentorship, with personalized information and support;
  • Support to savings groups and facilitation of access to credit;
  • Sector Meetings (bringing together different stakeholders) to encourage information and experience sharing among new businesses.

  • Mudug: Galkayo South;

  • Galgaduud: Dhusamareeb, Guriceel, Cadado.
